An indoor or outdoor TV antenna is the only way to get FREE
local over the air waves broadcast network programming for your
television, whether you are talking about an older analog
television, or a newer high definition / digital television.
The analog (NTSC) to digital (ATSC) broadcast television
transition that is currently underway in the United States will be completed by February 17, 2009. After that date, all televisions will need to have an ATSC DTV tuner and a digital-capable TV antenna to be able to view the improved 100%-digital free local
over the airwaves broadcast stations. Channel numbers may change!
Analog TVs will require purchasing a separate digital TV converter box, while high definition digital televisions with an integrated ATSC
HDTV tuner won't need a separate box - but either way, you'll need to connect the right digital TV antenna.
