In addition to a separate surround sound audio system, a high definition television (or projector) also begs for (requires) one or more sources of high definition video content to best display its HD beauty. Sure, that could be a Blu-ray Disc player / PS3, but you don't want to always be dealing with discs, do you?

Four top sources (*equipment is pictured in slideshow to right) for access to live HD sports events, TV shows, and movies are:

1. a satellite dish, HDTV receiver/DVR, and HD package,

2. an indoor/outdoor HDTV antenna (plus a separate ATSC receiver for projectors, which lack a TV tuner) for viewing local terrestrial digital broadcast television channels for free,

3. HD cable box or TiVo HD DVR, and cable television service from your local cable TV provider, and/or

4. high bandwidth, high speed Internet connection from a local ISP/FTTH/FIOS, plus a VUDU/Apple TV box (or streaming network BD player), and paid a-la-carte video on demand streaming movies and television shows.

*Depending on your particular home theater's components, room setup, and/or configuration, additional hardware, cables, and/or installation techniques will likely be required/desirable!
